John Myshrall My family and I are from south Louisiana where theologically conservative churches are the norm. Because of the great rebirth of the Southern Baptist Convention over the past 25 years, when we moved to Columbia we wanted to find an SBC church so we could continue to be a part of this great move of God.
About two months after we moved here Heritage Baptist Church opened their doors. After visiting other SBC churches in Columbia we found Heritage to be the only one that was fully committed to the inerrant Word of God. We became charter members and began a once in a lifetime adventure.
Though being part of a new church plant is very demanding, and at times heart-breaking, I have been spiritually challenged, grown in faith, and had opportunities in ministry that I would never have in a larger church. Being part of a small, yet growing local body of believers provides an accountability factor that is not found in the mega church. God gives gifts to every believer so we help each other to identify our gifts and then provide opportunities to use those gifts.
If you are looking for entertainment, Heritage is not the place for you.
If you are looking for a church that worships the Father in spirit and in truth; that encourages each other to live a life pleasing to the Lord; that is more concerned about seeing people truly born again than it is about how many names can be added to the roll; that is a spiritually safe place to bring your family...then Heritage is the place for you.
